Make Your Own Home Brew

Try using these simple substitutes instead of commercial cleaners to help you in house cores.


Surface cleaner: surface stains can be cleansed with a microfiber cloth soaked in vinegar diluted with water. Combat stubborn stains with a paste of baking soda and water.

Window cleaner: old newspaper and water works wonders. You can also spray dirty windows with vinegar and water solution or a soap nut solution. Make this by boiling a few soap nuts in water. Let it cool before use.

Wood polish: add a few tablespoons of lemon juice to a quarter cup of olive oil. Wipe furniture with a cloth soaked in this solution.

Toilet bowl cleaner: pour a cupful of vinegar and a few tablespoons of baking powder into stained toilet bowls. Let it soaked for half an hour, then brushed and flushed.

Hand wash: dilute liquid Castile soap (primarily made with olive oil) with water and pour into a spray bottle. Add a few drops of tea tree oil for antibacterial benefits.

Baking soda is a weak alkaline and can neutralize acidic scents which makes it a great deodorizer. 

White vinegar can kill moldy, germs and bacteria due to its high level of acidity, while its remaining non tonic to humans.
