Healthy Lifestyle ~ Stretching Exercises Useful Tips

Tips To Stretching Exercises
  • Correct stretching is important to avoid spine and joint misalighnments
  • Stretch before, during and after exercise - before (to help warm up the muscles and joints to be used), during (to help lengthen the muscle for a full range of motion and to enhance the muscle's ability to perform) and after to help reduce the amounts of toxins and lactic acid built up in the muscle, which help prevent or reduce muscle soreness.
  • Maintain each stretch for 10- 30 seconds. Holding a stretch for any less won't sufficiently lengthen the muscle.
  • Exhale deeply as you stretch. Do not hold your breath.
  • Stretch both sides equally, so all of your muscles are evenly ready for action.
Caution:
  • Never stretch a cold muscle as this will cause muscle pull or tear. Warm up first with a short jog or walk.
  • DON'T stretch to the point of pain. In other words, do not force a stretch. If you have reached a point in your stretch where it hurts, relax to where it feels comfortable and hold the stretch.
  • AVOID bobbing or bouncing while stretching. This may damage the muscle you are stretching. This damage may even cause scar tissue to form. Scar tissue tightens muscles and get in the way of flexibility.
Stay healthy and pink. :)
